#BuildInPublic #ReactJS #14DaysOfCode #WebDev
So I'm currently working on a real estate project, I decided to document it here #14daysofcode . The tools are Nextjs, typescript, tailwindcss and Nodejs(backend) .
The features are:
1. Landing page
2. About us
3. Our services
....
My takeaway from #14daysofcode is simple β if you've ever felt intimidated by the prospect of learning to code, the advent of AI (like ChatGPT or Bard) can be a game-changer.
AI provides round-the-clock coaching with an expansive knowledge base, customizable learning methods, an adaptable tone of voice, and the patience to explain each line of code and answer all my WHYs behind it.
While the future of AI is still unwritten, one thing is certain: it has the potential to make learning more personalized and effective.
It certainly did for me.
π Day 14/14 π
Just wrapped up my #14daysofcode with JS and ChatGPTπ€ π Here's a rundown of what I've accomplished:
β
Crafted a simple text editor using contenteditable div
β
Learnt basic formatting - bold, italic, links
β
Provided simple image support
β
Created my first GitHub repository and push updates
β
Implemented autosave/load via local @supabase database
β
Introduced switching between database rows
It's been a rewarding journey that I intend to continue. Now, I am taking a short break before diving into my next challenge. Hint: It's not coding this time.

β© I needed to reschedule the last #14daysofcode day to tomorrow. Today, life (somehow cheerfully) pushed back any attempts to sit down and produce a few new lines.
π Observation: #14daysofnocode was more straightforward regarding the time spent. I could start and stop in 30-60 min. With the JS learning, I spend 60-120min on average. But I enjoy the latter more β the stepper learning curve gives more satisfaction.
Day 13/14
Uff, I had a "great" idea today. Let's save data to Supabase while working locally. So today:
- Set Supabase CLI (+ Docker), project, services, and database
- Set LiveServer for Visual Studio Code
- Added JS logic to load and save data
Works π«

Day 11/14
It was hard today. The idea of the built-in objects, constructors, and handling files is a steep learning curve.

Day 10/14
I scaled down my JS code by converting repeatable code into functions. Apart from the exercise benefits, it's nice to see it maintainable.

Day 8-9/14
I introduced adding links with the URL preview in the context menu and improved interactions.

Day 7/14
Halfway!
I introduced the two-way formatting on the same button and cleaned up the code.

Day 6/14
Something different today:
1) π€ I instructed ChatGPT on the context (you're an educator) and the goal (simple text editor).
2) βοΈ Writing contenteditable div with the context menu.

Day 4/14
It's another day of learning about caret. This time I figured out that I needed to add zero-width space following strong tag to make the caret eventually move with the selection API. Now it works nicely.
#14daysofcode
Day 2/14
Today I learned (hard) how innerHTML effectively destroys DOM and my efforts to adjust the caret position after the markdown. I switched to TreeWalker, and it works almost fine.
#14daysofcode
Meanwhile building traction for the @TableVoyager Iβm starting 14 days code challenge. From scratch to a basic markdown text editor. Reminder: my JavaScript knowledge is almost 0.
Today I played with contenteditable div and a markdown to transform text to bold.
