Very pleased to have audited the first two days of #17centlibs at @livesandletters at @ucl. Great papers on a range of topics around private and public libraries, readers, and collectors across early modern Europe. I wish I could have stayed for the final half-day tomorrow.

Very interesting concluding paper #17centlibs about relevance of libraries, fortunes waining in 17thC with the efficiency of the book trade in the Dutch Republic. Public libraries prone to both ruin & survival throughout history, as with their decimation in the UK today.
