The 14th ASEAN Plus Three Labour Ministers Meeting (ALMM) was held on 27 August 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand, and attended by all ASEAN Member States, China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and the ASEAN Secretariat.
The Meeting exchanged views on the theme “Advancing ASEAN Human Capital: Skills Certification towards Global Recognition”. The Meeting reaffirmed commitment to implement the renewed Work Plan of the ASEAN Plus Three in 2026-2030. The 14th ALMM+3 was preceded by the ASEAN Plus Three Senior Labour Officials Meeting held on 25 August 2026.

The ASEAN Defence Senior Officials’ Meeting (ADSOM) and ADSOM-Plus were convened via videoconference, on 26-27 August 2026. The Meetings brought together ADSOM Leaders from all ASEAN Member States, as well as senior officials responsible for defence from the Plus Countries. The Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for the ASEAN Political-Security Community, H.E. Dato’ Astanah Abdul Aziz, represented the ASEAN Secretariat at the Meetings.
The ADSOM discussed progress in the implementation of the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) Work Programme 2023-2026, newly proposed initiatives under the ADMM and the defence sector’s external engagements. The ADSOM-Plus discussed progress under the ADMM-Plus Experts’ Working Groups and exchanged views on regional security issues and noted relevant recent developments in ASEAN, as reported by the ASEAN Secretariat. The Meetings also discussed the preparations for the upcoming 20th ADMM and 13th ADMM-Plus in October.

Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today delivered remarks at the Opening Ceremony of the 22nd ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Science, Technology and Innovation (AMMSTI-22), along with H.E. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thongsalith Mangnormek, Chair of AMMSTI 2026, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education and Sports of Lao PDR, in Vientiane, Lao PDR.
In his remarks, Dr. Kao expressed that science, technology and innovation sit at the heart of ASEAN’s agenda; driving economic growth, strengthening resilience and sharpening its competitiveness.
During the AMMSTI-22 Opening Ceremony, ASEAN also marked a landmark moment with the launch of four key initiatives advancing regional science, technology, and innovation, namely ASEAN Science, Technology and Innovation Fund (ASTIF) Call 2026, ASEAN Technology Management Hub (TMH), ASEAN-Korea HPC Facility in Indonesia, and ASEAN Plan of Action on STI Monitoring and Evaluation Dashboard.

Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for ASEAN Economic Community, H.E. Satvinder Singh, attended the Fourth ASEAN Blue Economy Forum (4th ABEF) on 24–25 August 2026 in Makati Shangri La, Manila, the Philippines.
In the high-level panel, DSG Satvinder Singh underscored the blue economy as a pivotal engine of inclusive and sustainable growth in line with the AEC Strategic Plan 2026–2030, emphasising that financing and partnerships are key to advancing connectivity, resilience, and inclusivity across the region.
He also attended the Third Meeting of the ASEAN Coordinating Task Force on Blue Economy (ACTF-BE), which advanced discussions on the ASEAN Blue Economy Implementation Plan Roadmap 2026–2030, with a focus on ensuring that the Roadmap is practical, impactful and responsive to the region’s priorities.
