Roughly five thousand "ethnic Germans" were executed by the Nazi-regime in the wake of the failed #20JulyPlot of 1944, oftentimes for a rather tenuous type of complicity. (E.g., having known about, but not warned Hitler of, the rumor that an assassination is about to happen.)
