@mrcpangallo I wouldn’t have used the word “scientific” here, but this is exactly what I said at #22FMM : it’s going to be the micro data that will save macro. Not everyone there wanted to listen.

The big question for @PluralEcon folks is: who is this "modern us" you describe. "Unideological" is a naive term I'd say."Open-minded" may fit better. Sure, these people exist and they are many, but are largely invisible and are not the ones that the heterodox people criticize.1/

A good but still just 2nd most important (but more sufisticated imo) thread after the one from @BachmannRudi in the aftermath of the #22FMM.
But if all the open-minded people take the plea for methodological pluralism seriously, I think they have to admit there is still very strong conformist pressure to start from DSGE (when you wanna do theoretical/model work), if you want to push your career (or do data only) . 4/

@AndrewWattEU @FMM_macro @BachmannRudi I engaged a bit with @BachmannRudi re: his talk on his page. Should have included you in my replies! I think he made some good points. Mostly, I am thankful for these debates at #22FMM and the previous conferences, too!
@BachmannRudi I enjoyed 80% of your talk at #22FMM; agree that metatheory and methodology r for few. I concur that the @IMKFlash pragmatism is great; been working myself on micro foundations of #heterodox ideas for 10 years, & keeping up w/ contemporary techniques (DiD, etc) & ideas. 1/
A detailed, generous but also combative take on @FMM_macro #22FMM conference from mainstream "Daniel" @BachmannRudi. Will certainly interest (& may annoy) economists of both more mainstream and heterodox leanings. Critical is the debate across paradigmatic boundaries. Danke Rudi!

\thread OK, my last (somewhat longer) reflection on my foray into the heterodox lion's den #22FMM OK, it really was mostly a particular heterodoxy present there, but never mind. /1
OK, back to #22FMM : it's always bad to oversimplify but I think I met three very heterogeneous groups there. 1) The young heterodox scholars who do very interesting empirical work, and - I was surprised - they use exactly the same statistical and econometric methods as we do. /8
