There's a thing in TV for bit players where if the writers like you, they tend to keep writing things for you and bringing you back. Max Grodénchik took Rom from "Ferengi #2" to one of my favorite (and most fun) characters in the series.
Day 24: Favourite Bajoran story.
Most Bajoran episodes focus on their religion which is always one of my least favourite things about DS9. However, I'm gonna pick Emissary as it was so mysterious and unknown at the time.

30. Thing You Most Love about DS9 is the fantastic diverse range of characters that I grew to love. And of course the incredible story lines in particular The Dominion. DS9 will always be my favourite Trek out of them all. #30DaysOfDS9
29. Best Director for me is Avery Brooks for his incredible job directing the episode Far Beyond the Stars. Great to see them all without their normal make up. But Avery Brook’s performance as writer Benny Russell was just fantastic. #30DaysOfDS9

28. Best Episode Writer would have to be Ira Steven Behr. His incredible Dominion story line took DS9 to a whole new level. I was lucky enough to meet him after watching The DS9 Documentary: What you Leave Behind at Destination Star Trek. #30DaysOfDS9
Day 21: Best Costume
I bet you think I'd pick something like the Intendant's outfit. There can only be Jadzia's wedding dress. It's perfect.

For all the reasons you already know AND the ones specifically mentioned by Avery Brooks in the #DS9Doc, it's got to be Jake and his dad. Two great characters whose relationship added so much to both of their stories.

"Explorers". I remember not liking it when I was young because there wasn't enough action. But, the idea of the lightship was cool & was important for Bajoran history, Ben & Jake bonding, the goat, Leeta, and of course, "Jerusalem".

I would also agree it’s the character development but I also loved how they showed Starfleet regarding fleet level actions/battles. No other Star Trek show showed that level of detail so fabulously well.

The overall character development. None of the characters are the same person from beginning to end. The events of the series change them and they grow.
