The next set for my #30YearsOfMagic is 1995's HOMELANDS and of course my card is Didgeridoo! When Alliances came out the following year & all the control players jammed Force of Will in everything, I tried to combat them by going Minotaur typal with this sweet artifact 🐂🎶🎵
In 1995 when Ice Age dropped, I fell in love with Orcish Lumberjack! Between the sweet Dan Frazier art & the rush of temporary mana, I tried this in a lot of builds. I used this to power out Jokulhaups and other "big spells" back in the day #30YearsOfMagic
Today's #30YearsOfMagic is 4th Edition & my card is Sylvan Library. Even though I had one OG Legends copy, 4E allowed me to complete my playset, eventually populating several of my #CMDR decks! I do much prefer more recent artwork, esp. Bryan Sola & Mark Poole. ALWAYS DRAW 3!
Many of my earliest tournament Magic decks featured 4x Erhnam Djinn from 1995's Chronicles. I always tried to "break the symmetry" of forestwalk by pairing it with Armageddon, or burned off my Forests with Orcish Lumberjack, but beating down was good enough!

1994's Fallen Empires introduced Saprolings, a cool green creature token I immediately loved. My favorite card had to be Elvish Farmer; friends learned to fear this card in conjunction with Fecundity, a common card-draw engine I had in my early multiplayer decks! #30YearsOfMagic
In 1994 when The Dark dropped, Maze of Ith instantly became a staple in our multiplayer games. I don't see it much these days, including in my own decks & I think I'm going to change that going forward in my quest to pepper into my decks old, lesser played cards. #30YearsOfMagic
In 1994 when Legends dropped, packs were scarce in my area. It was months before I saw someone's copy of 🐝Killer Bees🐝 & as a green mage I WANTED IT SO BAD! I eventually got a Chronicles reprint which was fine but for 30 years I've always wanted an OG version. #30YearsOfMagic
This week's #30YearsOfMagic looks at REVISED, highlighting Bayou! I've been Golgari at heart years before Ravnica codified the Guilds. I've owned multiples of all the duals but my collection for most have dwindled over the years. However I still have a playset of Bayous! 💚🖤
I still have this Tawnos's Coffin that I cracked in an Antiquities pack back in '94, and played it a ton in my early group game decks. It was such a weird card, and I find it odd WotC didn't make what it does phasing like they did with Oubliette.

In 1994 we played ante & Diamond Valley was a card that got passed around a lot between my friends, many of whom didn't take care of their Magic cards. I ended up with it, and it's between HP & Damaged, but it's sleeve playable and is in one of my decks! #30YearsOfMagic
This was in my very first Unlimited starter deck, and instantly hooked me on green, especially big green monsters, that has stayed with me for #30YearsOfMagic
Jan 2024 will mark my own personal #30YearsOfMagic, so each Tuesday I'll post a card from each Magic set that means something special to me. Unlimited & Arabian Nights released Dec '93 but since those packs were still on the shelves in Jan '24 I'm starting things a little early!
