Coach Chris Davis has brought a wealth of experience and talent to the Red Oak High School boys basketball program, having been named head coach in September 2021. Prior to this role, he served as the varsity assistant girls basketball coach at Red Oak, where he played a key part in leading the Lady Hawks to three consecutive UIL Regional appearances and three district championships from 2019 to 2021.
Davis is a distinguished alumnus of the University of North Texas, where he remains one of the program’s all-time greats, finishing as the second leading scorer in school history with an impressive 2,254 points. His collegiate accolades include being a three-time all-conference selection, the 2000 Big West Freshman of the Year, and a unanimous first-team all-conference pick during his junior year, when he also ranked ninth nationally in scoring. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the game, he was inducted into the UNT Athletics Hall of Fame in 2008.
Beyond his collegiate success, Coach Davis enjoyed a successful ten-year professional basketball career in France before transitioning to coaching and education. His diverse experiences as both a player and coach provide him with unique insights that he imparts to his players at Red Oak.
As the head coach, Davis is committed to fostering a competitive and positive environment for his players, emphasizing teamwork, discipline, and grit. Under his leadership, the Hawks are poised to build on past achievements and strive for excellence in the coming seasons.
