#40Years40Lessons: I never imagined a single college #hardware project would shape my entire career. The only project to be funded by KSCST (in #IISc) & nominated for a #national competition, this venture compelled me to master innovation, fundraising, project management, marketing, leadership & team building. It instilled a lifelong "hardware product mindset" that encompassed electrical, electronics, mechanical, computer programming concepts & role of a #mentor. Few years later, that very foundation enabled me to architect multiple mega, first-of-its-kind greenfield networks. The innovation in our products & architecture became our strongest competitive advantage. We were the first to establish world-class "Competency Centres" to simulate and solve complex "real-life" problems, a blueprint that institutions across India now use by creating "Centres of Excellence (CoE)" in AI, Quantum, VLSI, 6G etc to skill & inspire the next generation. #Lesson4: Never underestimate your early projects. #40Years40Lessons: Designing Next-Generation Aircrafts or executing Complex Computer Projects was the choice I had to make. After graduation got offers from Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) and Hindustan Computers Ltd (HCL) both No:1 even today with a nationalist agenda. HAL offered a higher salary in my hometown of Bangalore, but the offer arrived 30 days after I had already started with HCL in Bombay. My classmates chose to accept the HAL offer (In Pic) and excelled in their jobs. Despite heavy persuasion from family and friends to return to my "comfort zone", I stayed. I refused to ditch a company that had just invested in my training. #40Years40Lessons: Growing up with fighter aircraft models, inspired by real war stories, watching war movies & family legacy of military service, I was certain that I’d become an Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot. Instead, destiny routed me into the computer industry. But I realized my true ambition wasn’t tied to a uniform, a title, or a specific machine. It was rooted in "Nation Building" and solving "Complex Problems." That clarity with intensive international trainings in major developed countries & experience allowed me to execute mega-projects across government and private sectors that are still running today in India. #Lesson2: “Anchor your Ambition”, You must choose your own destination to guide your daily choices.
