Day 39: IMMORTALITY!!!
1 Corinthians 15:22-23
Apostle Paul starts here by saying: In Adam, all died. What he is saying here is that everyone who came through Adam all died. That is, we all inherited a mortal body. This helps us to understand that this subject of death and immortality is a collective something.
And then Paul continues by saying "even so in Christ shall all be made alive." It is a promissory note and it is for all. In Adam, we had automatic death, in Jesus, it’s automatic life. It’s not a subject of action, it’s a subject of birth, progeny, and blood. The subject here is physical death (not spiritual death). Because we came through Adam, we all became mortal. So, all we need to be mortal is to be "born." It’s why no one can press into immortality.
It’s also why Enoch and Elijah didn’t press into immortality. In Christ, all shall be made alive. Not some getting a head start while the rest of us catch up later. It’s “ALL.” It’s "ALL." Even if we assume they entered into immortality, the bible doesn’t give us a code. The bible always tells us the way it will go. Like how The Bible says the dead rise first and those dead are not even lifting a finger, let only "pressing."
It’s in the same way that in verse 23, Paul uses the word "order," Tagma in the Greek which means: arrangement. It’s a succession plan. So, it’s every man after his own succession. And so, it starts with Christ and then extends to us who are in Him. Christ is the firstfruit: aparché in the Greek. Aparché means the first portion of a harvest. So the first portion of immortality is Christ. And we all join in that same pattern. In other words, resurrection is a successive reality.
Also, we must note something in this discussion: While the kingdom of God isn’t logical, Jesus broke it down with logic. He gave parables, used plain words and more just to help people understand it in a relatable way. It's the same way we’ve got to help people understand this, or they’ll veer off into spiritism. No fasting, praying, giving, or hustling can shove anyone into immortality. It’s “we shall ALL be changed.” No second or third wave, just one batch. And we must explain this plaining. There's no pressing that gets one there!

Day 36: IMMORTALITY!!!
The whole context of our new life is that Jesus resurrected. We don’t even have the capacity to pull off what He did and get ourselves saved in the first place.
In 1 Corinthians 15:19, it says if our hope in Christ is just for this life, we’re the most miserable of all people. Because God has given to us the Son, His death, resurrection, the Spirit, redemption, salvation, glory, and more. So if we don’t have that rock-solid assurance of Heaven, it’s a rotten deal.
This is exactly why when a believer dies, it’s not game over. In fact, Apostle Paul makes it clear in that scripture that there’s a life after this one.
Now, if we know that Jesus ascended into a real Heaven, then yeah, there’s a real hell too, since he said it and other scriptures corroborate it. That same Jesus is the One who promised me the Spirit, and delivered as the spirit lives in me today. Surely if he has promised an afterlife, I’ve got zero reason to doubt Him.
1 Thessalonians 4:13. Paul says we shouldn’t sorrow like those with no hope. Of course here, He doesn’t say "don’t sorrow at all." This just means that there’s a way to grieve. Pretending it doesn’t hurt or denying the loss isn’t faith; it’s delusion. Faith doesn’t rewrite a reality we refuse to face or admit. But the hope comes from knowing that we are not like unbelievers. The whole premise of immortality is that Jesus died and rose again, and we see it in 1 Thessalonians 4:14. No one’s holding anyone back; the dead won't hold back those who are alive back from the resurrection. Every believer shall rise. Then Paul drops this: The Lord Himself will come down from Heaven! This means that Heaven’s not some hazy dream or unconscious blip. Heaven is real.
And from verse 13 of the 1 Thessalonians 4, all we see is that Paul starts handing hope to those who’ve lost loved ones. Their dead will rise first. And those of us still alive? We’ll be caught up too. Then we’ll be with the Lord forever. So this idea of Jesus coming back to play president for 1000 years isn't true. As a matter of fact, people need to quit reading Revelation like it’s a literal script. Most of the things are allegories. Jesus in essence shall come to bring us all up to him in resurrection.
To cap it up, in verse 18, Apostle Paul shows us that the resurrection message is for comfort. It's a message that we comfort each other with it. It’s not here to spook believers and scare us. It’s to bring hope and peace to our hearts.

Day 34: IMMORTALITY!!!
In 2 Timothy 1:8, Paul’s telling us here not to be ashamed of the opposition that comes with preaching the Gospel (Romans 1:16). Sure, there’s a natural shame that might come with the Gospel as it can sound like foolishness to the world’s so-called wise guys. But since it’s not what people are used to, it takes real boldness not to be ashamed. It makes us look stupid to some. Telling folks their good deeds won’t earn God’s kingdom feels off to many, but it’s God’s wisdom. By the way, if Christianity is just ��do good to make heaven,” we’re barely different from most religions out there.
Now in verse 9, Paul’s clear: it’s not about our works, it’s something that God has set from before the world began. You can’t merit salvation; it was locked in before any of us even showed up. That is, the sin in the world is the reaction of the world against God's salvation. So, to sin is to leave God’s salvation and stay in unbelief. That’s the big difference between faith in Christ and every other religion. Verse 10 shows that this plan that was from before time started is now out in the open with Jesus Christ's appearing, abolishing death, and shining a light on life and immortality through the Gospel.
That’s why Paul’s writings are definite. After all the atrocities blamed on God in the Old Testament, Apostle Paul’s words lets us see that in the Gospel we see God's plan revealed and that Jesus abolished death. It rattles our theology, makes us go, “Wait, what?” If Jesus abolished death, then who has always been behind it? Definitely not God because we know now that He’s against death, doesn’t mess with it, never uses it. When we read Paul straight, we stop thinking God’s tossing out evil and good, life and death.
Even Jesus’ words and John’s back up the fact that God’s all life, all light. No death or evil or darkness in Him. Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He has no changes in character. Nothing He’ll do at the end contradicts what He said the first time he came. He was even upfront about the judgment’s coming for unbelievers. In fact, The destruction of Satan and his angels is actually the goodness of God for mankind. The devil is the accuser of the brethren and our enemy. So, his destruction is for our good as well. Jesus stands against death. He brings life and immortality through the Gospel. Which is why the Gospel has to promise people eternal life and immortality. If it doesn’t, it’s not Jesus’ Gospel.
Jesus took on flesh, faced death, and crushed the one who held its power to free us from his grip. That’s how much God hates death. He became man to stop it! We can’t read this and still tag God as the causing chaos on earth. That’s the devil’s work. God’s only got life to give.

Day 30: The Spirit of Sonship
Salvation isn’t some mental game or a club you join, it’s a spiritual birth and a real one at that. So real that Nicodemus in John 3 was scratching his head when Jesus mentioned that he must be born again to enter into God's kingdom and had to ask Jesus what kind of birth He was even talking about. Nicodemus understood that this birth Jesus was talking about couldn't have been a mental thing, it had to be a real birth.
And that is why salvation’s not about character. Sure, it should shape your character, but it’s not that. It’s a birth, and in this birth, God’s DNA gets put into us.
We'll notice that the Bible doesn't just play around with words when it talks about salvation. It calls it a birth—an actual, legit birth.
It doesn't even just call it a friendship or employer-employee relationship that can be terminated with every small inconvenience. Look at the weight of the words Scripture uses. They are mostly family words: Marriage and sonship words.
Take John 3:15 and 16. It’s not saying we have to wait till we are six feet under to have everlasting life. No. It says the second someone believes, they have it. The problem, however, is that we project our thoughts onto God. We’re petty, vengeful, complicated, and all, so we can’t stomach that salvation might actually be as simple as the Bible says. And that it is God genuinely securing us forever.
That is why we must know that the believer is birthed by an incorruptible spirit. What we’re calling a believer is a new creature, a spirit. Basically, we are a brand-new spirit stuffed in an old vessel. And that spirit born in salvation is never going to perish. That’s the spirit of sonship or what we can call the spirit of salvation.
John 5:24 spells it out: the believer cannot come into condemnation. It's a done deal that we are passed from death to life. And it’s a crying shame the body of Christ can’t even agree on this basic truth. A foundation this simple, that the believer’s free from condemnation—and we still have to fight over it. Worse, we cherry-pick other words of Jesus, take them out of context, and use them to slap down what He’s clearly saying here and several other places. It’s pathetic that those of us who dare preach this straight get demonized for it.
It’s so simple even a thief on a cross got it. One of the guys dying next to Jesus just said, “Master, remember me in your kingdom.” That was it. And Jesus, even though he was dying, still says, “You’ll be with me in paradise.” That’s Jesus flexing His job description: Savior. He saves. And He hands that spirit of sonship to anyone who believes.
John 1:11-12 backs it up. The moment someone believes in Him, He gives them the right to be sons and the Bible calls it adoption.
And no, sonship’s not about acting perfect. And please, there's nothing like some believers being “children of God” but not “sons.” John 1:13 says it clear: we’re born not by human willpower, and not because some guy says so, but by God Himself.
Get this understanding, and it’ll settle you. It’ll keep you serving. Realizing you’re a son of the Most High God is a major game-changer. It brings contentment in you. It'll always make you happy.
And that's because the best way to serve Him isn’t because you're threatened, it’s owning what He’s done, what He’s given, and rolling with it. Again, service under duress is fake. Real service is enjoying what He’s handed us and living it out.
Galatians 3:26-28 seals it: we’re all God’s children by faith in Christ Jesus. All of us. There are no tiers or VIP list, just faith. Bishop Oyedepo or Pastor Adeboye aren't more of God's sons or children than you.

DAY 28 - ETERNAL SONSHIP
Eternal life is not just a length of life, it is a perpetual state that death cannot corrupt. Acts 13:23-33. The idea of sonship is that you’re the “undying one”. You can never return to corruption.
Acts 13:34-36. The sure mercies of David is that Jesus is alive forever. Death will never prevail against God’s Son. This is different for angels. Salvation was never designed for them. They don’t seek forgiveness. There was never a place in the Bible that showed satan being repentant. Eternal life is not the same as merely being in existence, it is to have God’s life and be incorruptible. Angels are corruptible.
In salvation, there is the incarnation (Jesus coming in flesh) and the glorification (Jesus declared as SON). The former is the foundation of the conversation but the latter is the real substance. If Jesus being God’s incarnate died and didn’t rise, then He is not the Son of God. The glorification validates the incarnation.
It is not enough to believe that Jesus became a man to die for our sins, you must not stop there. You must believe He was glorified (He rose up and defeated death). Sonship is really found in the glorification of Jesus. Romans 6:4. The strength of the Christian faith is in Jesus’ resurrection.
Anyone can be a Bible/religious scholar, but until they believe that Jesus died for their sins and rose from the dead, they’re not saved. They are just historians. Romans 6:4 is proof that if Jesus died but didn’t rise, we are all dead with him. But thank God He rose and built a church so powerful that hell can never prevail against it.
The same life of Jesus’ glorification is what He used to build the church. The foundation of the believer is the Holy Spirit that Jesus gave at His glorification. The believer will live forever, he can never perish because of the kind of spiritual technology he was designed with. It’s not about us, but the quality of the creator’s design.
Most of us grew up around pressing irons that kept working for decades. There are also bridges that are still intact 100 years after the construction. And we marvel at the engineering of the product, how skillful the manufacturers are. The believer is built by the resurrected life of Jesus which is the highest quality to ever exist.
Romans 6:5. Sonship is an eternal state. Only the believer in Christ has immortality assured. Death will never prevail over us. Even though we die physically, we will live forever. As far as eternity is concerned, the believer is incorruptible. He is the son of God, he has received newness of life and can never go back to corruption.

Day 27: Eternal Sonship
We've been examining the differences between angels and the sons of God. Angels are servants and created with sons in mind, while the title "son" is far greater than anything an angel can ever attain.
If we look at Hebrews 1:5: "Thou art my son, this day have I begotten thee." What day was God referring to? First, we know that Jesus is the Son of God. According to John 1, He is the only Son of God, and later, He is referred to as the first begotten. The term "first begotten" suggests that He is the first among many.
In Colossians 1:16, we see that Jesus created angels, and they were created not only by Him but also for Him. Then, in verse 18, Jesus is declared the firstborn from the dead. Again, we see that this isn’t about Elijah or Moses. None of them was the first begotten. It's only been Jesus.
No one had ever risen from the dead to live forever before Him. The Greek word for "firstborn" is Prototocus and this shows us that there's been a shift from "only" to "first." All of this was so that Jesus might be the first of everyone raised from the dead.
We see a similar declaration in Revelation 1:4, where He is described as the first begotten of the dead. According to the writer of Hebrews, there was a specific day when Jesus was enacted as the first begotten from the dead.
Jesus is called "Son" in various contexts. In His water baptism by John, His sonship is affirmed (John 1). But in Hebrews and other scriptures, this sonship goes beyond the incarnation. Through His inheritance, His sonship gave Him a name above all others. When Jesus emerged from the water at His baptism and when we heard that voice at the Mount of Transfiguration, it was an affirmation of His sonship. Yet for the one in Hebrews, we see that it was not merely an affirmation but an event; one that Paul explains in Acts 13:33-37
"Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee." How/when?
When He was raised from the dead, now no more to return to corruption. And on that, He said, "I will give you the sure mercies of David."
This means that the true essence of sonship is that Jesus was raised from the dead and can never return to corruption. For the believer, real sonship is synonymous with immortality, the assurance that we can NEVER perish.
What this means is that when we say someone is a son, we are declaring that the person is immortal and that immortality is found only in Jesus. Being a spirit doesn’t guarantee immortality, nor does existing in a state of perpetual existence—just as demons exist in a fallen state.
What we have in Jesus is eternal life, a state in which corruption is impossible. It’s not just about living forever, but about the quality of that existence. Jesus is in a state of incorruptibility, and we know that when He appears, we shall be like Him. For the believer, the world eagerly awaits the day when our immortality is fully revealed, even though our current mortal bodies still overshadow it.
A proper understanding of this truth assures us of our eternity, which is why believers can be willing to die for the Lord, confident in the assurance of our eternity.
