어장
In 1700s Joseon, a deadly mystery unfolded in a frozen village where victims drown on dry land.
Park Jongseong, a secret royal investigator, was sent to uncover the truth. There, he met Yang Jungwon, an enigmatic stranger with a haunting connection to the sea. As Jongseong digged deeper, he discovered Jungwon was no ordinary man, but an ino, a mermaid seeking vengeance against those who have destroyed his ocean home.

The quiet hum of the apartment complex was broken only by the faint sound of Jungwon’s muffled sobs. His small studio apartment was dimly lit, a stark contrast to the vibrant energy he usually carried. Tonight, though, the weight of his breakup felt like too much to bear. His boyfriend—no, ex—had walked out the door earlier, leaving behind stinging words and an ache that wouldn’t leave his chest.
Across the hall, Jay had just gotten home from work. He kicked off his shoes and set down his bag, ready to settle in for the night. But as he passed by his window, he paused. The sound was faint, but unmistakable—someone crying. He furrowed his brows, leaning closer to confirm. It was coming from Jungwon’s apartment.
Jay didn’t know Jungwon all that well, other than their occasional chats in the elevator or the polite smiles exchanged when they passed each other. But something about hearing him cry pulled at Jay’s chest. It wasn’t like him to get involved in other people’s business, but… well, tonight felt different.
On a whim, Jay grabbed the tub of ice cream from his freezer—chocolate chip cookie dough, because who didn’t love that?—and a random DVD he hadn’t touched in years. He wasn’t sure if Jungwon would even let him in, but it was worth a shot.
A few hesitant knocks later, Jungwon opened the door, his tear-streaked face peeking out from behind the chain lock. His eyes widened slightly when he saw Jay standing there with ice cream and a lopsided smile.
“Hey,” Jay said, voice softer than usual.
“I, uh… couldn’t help but notice you might need some company. I brought ice cream. And a really bad movie.”
Jungwon blinked at him, clearly caught off guard. “You… brought this for me?”
Jay shrugged. “You seemed like you were having a rough night. And honestly, I don’t have any plans, so… figured I’d see if you wanted to hang out.”
Jungwon hesitated. He wasn’t used to people showing up for him like this, especially people he barely knew. But the ice cream looked tempting, and the thought of sitting alone with his thoughts for the rest of the night was unbearable. Slowly, he unlatched the chain and opened the door wider.
“Okay,” he said quietly. “Come in.”
Jay smiled, stepping inside. The apartment was small but cozy, with warm lighting and a few personal touches that felt distinctly Jungwon. They settled on the couch, the DVD playing in the background as they shared the ice cream straight from the tub.
Jay didn’t push Jungwon to talk, didn’t pry into what had happened. Instead, he cracked jokes about the cheesy movie and shared random stories from his day. Slowly but surely, Jungwon found himself laughing, the weight on his chest easing bit by bit.

cw // aboverse, alpha!jay , omega!jungwon , roommates
Jungwon had one rule: Don’t trust alphas.
Jungwon had made it clear from day one: He didn’t like alphas. At all.
So living with Jay—an alpha who constantly left mugs all over the apartment and walked around like he owned the place—was not part of Jungwon’s grand life plan.
But Jay wasn’t the typical alpha. He didn’t hover, didn’t push boundaries, and, most importantly, didn’t treat Jungwon like some fragile little omega. Sure, he was still annoying—his dumb smirks, his obsession with iced coffee even in winter, and his habit of leaving the TV on full blast—but at least he respected Jungwon’s space.
Sure, Jay was polite enough, and he didn’t cross boundaries, but that didn’t mean Jungwon liked him. He just…tolerated him. Begrudgingly.
That was until the storm hit.
It was supposed to be a quiet day. Classes had been canceled because of the weather, and Jungwon had been curled up in his room, enjoying the temporary peace. But when the first crack of thunder shook the windows, his calm shattered. He froze, his hands gripping the edge of his blanket.
He hated storms. He always had.
No, he despised storms.
For a few minutes, he tried to tough it out, burying himself under blankets. But when the second thunderclap boomed, rattling the windows, he bolted out of his room before he could stop himself, his omega instincts kicking in. His feet carried him to the living room, where Jay was lounging on the couch with his ever-present mug of coffee, the news playing on the TV.
Jay sat on the couch with a mug of coffee, watching the news like nothing was happening.
Jay glanced up, one brow raised. “You good?”
Jungwon didn’t answer. Instead, he marched over, climbed onto the couch, and—without permission—plopped himself directly into Jay’s lap, clutching the front of his sweatshirt as he buried his face in his chest.
Jay froze, his coffee cup hovering mid-air as he looked down at the smaller boy. “Uh…”
“Shut up,” Jungwon muttered, burying his face in Jay’s chest deeper.
Jay blinked, trying to process the situation. “You hate alphas.”
“I do.”
“And yet, here you are.”
“Do you want me to leave?” Jungwon snapped, though his voice was muffled and slightly shaky.
Jay quickly shook his head, his usual smirk softening into something more amused. “Nah. You’re good.”
He set his coffee aside, letting his hands rest awkwardly on Jungwon’s back. For someone who swore he hated alphas, Jungwon fit surprisingly well in his arms.
“…Jungwon?” he said cautiously.
“Don’t say a word,” Jungwon mumbled, his voice muffled by Jay’s sweatshirt.
Jay blinked, his mouth opening and closing like a confused goldfish. “Are you…okay?”
“No, I’m not okay!” Jungwon snapped, though it came out more like a whine. “It’s thundering! It’s loud and scary and—just—shut up and don’t move, okay?”
Jay bit back a laugh, deciding he valued his life too much to tease Jungwon in the moment. Instead, he carefully draped an arm around the smaller boy, awkwardly patting his back.
“Okay, okay. Not moving,” he said, though a smile tugged at his lips. “You know, for someone who hates alphas, you’re really making yourself at home right now.”
“Don’t push it,” Jungwon grumbled, but his grip on Jay’s hoodie tightened, and his body relaxed slightly as the alpha’s warmth seeped into him.
For the next ten minutes, they stayed like that, the storm raging outside while Jay occasionally glanced at the news and sipped his coffee with one hand.
Jungwon didn’t move, gripping Jay’s hoodie like it was the only thing keeping him grounded.
Jungwon realized he was practically purring—if that was even possible.
