12 beekeepers from our #AARTproject in #Wanlaweyn & #Burhakaba have been trained on modern #beekeeping in #Guricel. With support from @DKinSomalia & @caresom, the group learned colony management, relocation & feeding in effort to promote climate resilience & economic recovery.
@wardirelief has distributed 100 beehives, honey extractors, & PPEs to 6 beekeeper groups (of 5 persons) in #Wanlaweyn & #Burhakaba through our #AARTproject funded by @DKinSomalia x @caresom. This will reduce reliance on livestock, build climate resilience & improve livelihoods.
@HassanEeley @DKinSomalia The #AARTProject aims to strengthen the resilience of vulnerable groups within Southwest #Somalia's transhumance corridors by rehabilitating and restoring crucial infrastructure and empowering pastoralists with an effective early warning system.
At the launch of DANIDA-funded #AARTProject, Minister @HassanEeley said early warning systems are vital for climate resilience.
He thanked partners for their timely support to "cover the livelihoods of vulnerable pastoral communities with early warning systems and early action."
