Supported #AB2644 today. With over half of COVID deaths in skilled nursing facilities, we need SNFs to have dedicated, full-time infection preventionists to protect residents/staff. We must ensure that LTC Ombudsman can continue to advocate and protect nursing home residents.
Seniors were not adequately served in state-licensed skilled nursing facilities(SNF) at the beginning of this pandemic. I just voted for #AB2644 which will require SNF’s to report disease-related deaths w/in 24hrs during a health crisis & require the state post this info weekly.
#AB2644 passes Senate Health Committee with bipartisan support. Helping our most vulnerable seniors and disabled folks who rely on care in a nursing home during pandemics. Will protect their caregivers too.
