Thank you to ABC Trainerize for these gifts, and for voting me Trainer of the Year. There is no way to truly express my gratitude. #abctrainerize @trainerize 10 years ago I was just some bearded, depressed binge eater training out of his basement with a sketchy half squat rack and a couple of rusty barbells. I never even set out to even make a physique change. I just got scared that type 2 diabetes was going to take my life. The last 10 years have truly been like living in a dream. The places I've gone and the people I've met. My life now. I take nothing for granted and am sincerely appreciative of every day. To win something like this is surreal. I believe Trainerize has 400,000 online coaches and trainers. My mind can't truly fathom this accomplishment. My roots go way back to community; the Muscle and Brawn forum and website. Though I no longer own that website, it was a launching pad for everything important in my life. I didn't create content back then to stand out. We just talked about lifting and wrote articles because we loved what we did. This year I will be 57. To stand at the top of your profession at my age speaks volumes about the importance of community, and truly caring for those you work with. I can't thank each and every one of you enough. Those that work with me. Those that support me. Those that are a part of the Team Massive community. I'm not an influencer. I'm not a pretty face with a ripped body. I just love what I do and this is my life's work. This is truly my life's work. I won't say that doing what you love comes without stress. Last night I was up half the night obsessing about how I could make today's video and article as good as possible. There is an urgency in my work these days. Living in the last act of your life allows you to see things with a greater clarity. What we do is not just about building better bodies. It's about people. It's about fulfilling dreams and conquering demons and moving past insecurity. I spent many of my years hiding behind a beard, feeling obese and ashamed. How could someone that loves fitness have gotten to this point? I thought I was done. I was far from done. #massiveiron
