The UCP government is stepping up to ensure professional regulators stick to what matters: competence, ethics, and public safety. Except when those professionals are people like psychologist like Jordan B. Peterson, who suggested a person should kill themselves, fat-shamed an obese model, and spread hatred, bigotry, and anti-trans messages all over social media. We conservatives don't see anything Peterson did or said as unethical or a danger to public safety. In fact, I sat down and did an interview with him because he represents Alberta's "shared values". The UCP wants to make it possible for professionals in other organizations to be just as hateful as Jordan Peterson by ensuring they aren't silenced or asked to self-censor by their regulatory body. We want to use every possible means to encourage people to speak about their intolerance and hate and don't care which professional organizations lose credibility just because some loudmouthed conservatives never learned how to keep their ignorant opinions to themselves. This is the Alberta of shared values we want to build.
