This evening, the Chair of the RCMRD Governing Council and also the PS, Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, Zambia Hon. Patrick Mucheleka met with participants of the ongoing #AFREF training at RCMRD.
While addressing the trainees, now on Day 4 of their workshop, he highlighted the challenges that arise from the use of inconsistent #datums across African countries. He emphasized that these inconsistencies often result in inaccurate #mapping, which can lead to cross-boundary conflicts and land management inefficiencies.
He stressed that the AFREF training initiative is critical in standardizing tools and methodologies across the continent and must be embraced by all.

As part of our #RCMRD@50 celebrations, this week we are hosting a training workshop on the African Geodetic Reference Frame (#AFREF) at RCMRD, Nairobi.
The workshop was officially opened by Mr. Weldon Maritim, Director of Surveys โ Kenya, and aims to strengthen technical capacity in #geodetic and #GNSS data processing, promote regional collaboration and data sharing among institutions, and align Africaโs geodetic efforts with global standards and initiatives.
Countries represented include: Kenya, Lesotho , Rwanda, Zambia , Malawi, Eswatini , Uganda , Namibia , Botswana and South Africa
