COURT OF APPEAL CONFIRMS PDP GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE FOR EKITI
Today, the Court of Appeal, Akure Division, overturned the decision of the Federal High Court, Ado-Ekiti, delivered by Hon. Justice Babs Kuewumi on 13th January 2026, which nullified the congress that produced Dr. Olumayokun Oluwole Oluyede as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Ekiti.
The appeal, which was lodged by the @OfficialPDPNig under the leadership of Kabiru Turaki, SAN, contended that the trial court erred in law when it held that the primaries that produced Dr. Oluyede were not in substantial compliance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic, the Electoral Act, and the PDP Constitution.
The three-man panel of the Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Peter Obiorah, Hon. Justice Jane Inyang, and Hon. Justice Peter Affen upheld the appeal and held that the primaries were conducted in substantial compliance with all extant laws relating to PDP primaries, and that the product therefrom was regular and must be granted recognition by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
By this judgment, the candidature of Dr. Olumayokun Oluwole Oluyede, who was given a certificate of return by the Turaki-led PDP, has been validated. We encourage all our supporters in Ekiti to double their campaign efforts to ensure that the PDP wins the governorship election and gives to the people of the state the qualitative leadership that our candidate and party offer.

COURT OF APPEAL AFFIRMS DR. WOLE OLUYEDE AS DULY NOMINATED PDP GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE FOR EKITI STATE.
The Court of Appeal, Akure Division, has today delivered a landmark judgment affirming the validity of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) @OfficialPDPNig primary election in Ekiti State, which produced Dr. Wole Oluyede as the party’s governorship candidate.
In a unanimous decision, the three-man appellate panel led by Hon. Justice Peter Chudi Obiorah, alongside Hon. Justice Jane Esienanwan Inyang and Hon. Justice Peter O. Affen, set aside the earlier judgment of the Federal High Court, Ado-Ekiti. The justices held that the primary election conducted by the Kabiru Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC) was valid, transparent, and complied with the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act.
On the 13th of January, 2026, the Federal High Court, Ado-Ekiti nullified the Ekiti State Governorship primary election conducted on the 8th and 9th November, 2025. Dissatisfied with the judgment, the Party appealed to the Court of Appeal and today, the Court of Appeal allowed the appeal and set aside the judgment of the Federal High Court.
The Court further held that the primary election was duly conducted.
This judgment effectively puts to rest the leadership and candidacy disputes that have shadowed the party's preparations for the 2026 Ekiti State Governorship Election. By upholding the Turaki-led process, the Court has provided the necessary legal finality to ensure the PDP enters the general election as a unified front.

The Ibadan North Local Government Council has completed the construction of modern stalls and a motor park at Bodija Market, providing improved trading spaces and better transport coordination within one of the busiest commercial areas in Ibadan.
The newly developed facility, named after Alhaji Chief Sunmaila Aderemi Jimoh, was officially opened with 540 stalls allocated to traders at no cost.
The initiative is part of the government’s efforts to improve the trading environment while addressing congestion and informal roadside trading around the Bodija axis.

According to Governor Makinde, the objective is to ensure that traders operating along roadsides have access to organised and safer trading spaces that support their businesses while maintaining environmental order in the city.
The provision of the modern stalls and the accompanying motor park is expected to ease congestion in the area, improve market organisation, and enhance access for both traders and customers. It also contributes to ongoing efforts to strengthen market infrastructure and promote orderly commercial activities across the city.

The Northern Youth League (NYL), a prominent coalition representing youth interests across the nineteen Northern states, has officially announced its endorsement of His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, @seyimakinde for the 2027 Presidency, with His Excellency, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, @KwankwasoRM as his Vice-Presidential running mate.
Under the banner of #AFreshStart, the League declares that this strategic partnership represents the most viable path toward national healing, economic revitalization, and the restoration of security across the Federation.
In a world-press conference held in Kaduna today, the Convener of the Northern Youth League, Dr Danjuma Dankasa, stated:
"Nigeria stands at a pivotal crossroads. We have navigated seasons of trial, but the time has come to transition from mere survival to sustainable growth. After extensive consultations with stakeholders across the North, we have identified Engr. Seyi Makinde and Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso as the ideal 'Bridge Builders' to lead us into a new era."
The League highlighted several key factors for their decision:
• Proven Governance: Engr. Seyi Makinde’s "Omituntun" model in Oyo State has demonstrated excellence in infrastructure, education, and civil service welfare.
• The Kwankwasiyya Legacy: Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso’s unparalleled track record in human capital development and his deep-rooted connection with the masses (Talakawa) provide a formidable North-South synergy.

2027 General Elections: Why Nigerians Cannot Reward Failure:
Below is a breakdown of the key promises made by the @OfficialAPCNg and President Bola Tinubu, @officialABAT contrasted with their current standing based on socio-economic data as of March 2026.

1. Economy and Currency
• The Promise: To "strengthen the Naira" and achieve a stable exchange rate through a market-driven system.
• The Reality: The unification of the exchange rate led to a massive devaluation. While the objective was to eliminate arbitrage, the Naira has experienced historic volatility against the USD, fueling record-high inflation.
• The Promise: To "import less and export more" to achieve a favorable balance of trade.
• The Reality: Nigeria remains heavily dependent on imports for refined fuel and essential goods. While local refining (via the Dangote Refinery) has begun to shift the needle, the transition has been significantly slower than promised.
2. Cost of Living and Inflation
• The Promise: That no parent would be "compelled to send a child to bed hungry," with a primary focus on "affordable" food.
• The Reality: Food inflation reached unprecedented peaks, exceeding 30–40% during several quarters. The removal of the fuel subsidy, while a core policy, triggered a massive spike in transportation and commodity costs, placing an agonizing strain on the average household.
3. Energy and Power
• The Promise: To generate, transmit, and distribute "sufficient and affordable electricity."
• The Reality: Despite various "Accelerated Development" plans and the signing of the 2023 Electricity Act to decentralize the grid, national power generation has largely fluctuated between 3,500MW and 4,000MW. This remains far below the "sufficient" levels pledged, and frequent grid collapses continue to paralyze productivity across the country with uncontrollable hardship.
4. Security
• The Promise: To "obliterate terror, kidnapping, and banditry" through a proactive, intelligence-driven architecture.
• The Reality: kidnapping for ransom and banditry in the North-West and North-Central regions remain critical challenges. There are no significant evidence of security improvement in Nigeria under the All Progressives Congress (APC) led government. The "obliteration" of these threats has not been realized till now, rather, insecurity has become a new reality under the APC.
5. Jobs and Youth Empowerment
• The Promise: Massive job creation and a "decent wage" for the Nigerian youth.
• The Reality: Although the National Minimum Wage was eventually increased following protracted negotiations with labor unions, the "real value" of these wages has been eroded by inflation. Unemployment remains high, and the "Japa" syndrome, the migration of young professionals seeking opportunities abroad, continues unabated. Hunger, poverty and starvation everywhere.
