Michael found it annoying whenever Evan walked around with a foolish, head-over-heels grin on his face. He simply hated seeing Evan doing well. So, he deliberately stole away every girl Evan had a crush on. Of course, he never actually dated any of them; he merely diverted their attention away from Evan.
His method was remarkably simple. First, he would track down the girl Evan liked and approach her. Then, all he had to do was flash a few sweet, charming smiles and treat her kindly. The girls fell for him instantly with just a tiny bit of attention. But that was hardly surprising. To most girls, Michael was the classic bad boy straight out of a romance novel, as well as the popular school heartthrob. It was virtually impossible for them not to fall for him.
Later, whenever Evan gathered the courage to confess his feelings to a girl, she would reject him and admit that she was in love with Michael instead. Evan would be left on the verge of tears every single time, while Michael found the whole sight immensely entertaining. (And when the girl eventually confessed her feelings to Michael later on, he would turn her down by saying he was not interested in younger girls, thoroughly shattering her first love. Michael was truly a terrible person.)
However, even Michael encountered an unpredictable variable. That was Cassidy. Curiously enough, she did not fall for Michael at all. In fact, she openly disliked him. Even when Michael intentionally approached her and acted sweet, she crumpled her face in utter disgust.
โNo matter how much you try to look good with those pretty eye-smiles, you can't fool me. Your smile is as pitch black as your soul.โ

Hearing those words severely wounded Michael's pride. He absolutely despised her. He decided that no matter what it took, he would stop her from dating Evan. His motivation was no longer just a lighthearted scheme to torment Evan. It had transformed into pure spite toward Cassidy, driven solely by his desire to ruin everything for her because he couldn't stand her.
Regardless of his scheming, Cassidy spent a wonderful time with Evan. She brushed off the irritation Michael caused her by gently stroking Evan's hair. Then, when Evan unexpectedly mustered up the courage to kiss her on the cheek, Cassidy's face turned bright red, and she gave him a kiss right back on his cheek.

Michael torments and makes life miserable for CC, but whenever CC says, โI hate you... I really hate you...โ, he hesitates for a moment, frowns, and then resumes bullying him. Michael was actually hurt by CC's words.
After tormenting him so relentlessly, the simple fact that he gets hurt by a single word of hatred shows just how selfish he is.
