Now it has been brought to my notice that it was not the provost of Indra Gandhi Hall but the provost of Abdullah Hall who so ruthlessly threw out teenage girls from their previously alloted hostels. My regret for the mistake and apologies to the Provosts and Wardens of Indra Gandhi Hall.
However, it is incumbent upon the present Vice - Chancellor to institute an enquiry in the whole mess and how the D.S.W and Provosts of halls of residence can so blatantly violate AMU's traditions and its cultural ethos and world famous sense of empathy in dealing with students.
Here is a case where girls are being thrown out of the hostels not because any mistake on their part. Admission tests for B.A, https://t.co/iVpDznKZG3 , https://t.co/n8odVDd07b and BA,BSC( B.ed) were conducted simultaneously but the admission list for B.ed admission came out very late. As a result ,most of students took admission in B.A or https://t.co/0gOZQvYrxc and were allotted hostels as per their merits. When، later on , the list of selected candidates for B.ed admission was declared, many students transferred their admission from B.A or https://t.co/iVpDznKZG3 to B.A/ https://t.co/iVpDznKZG3 B.ed combined course. At the time of transfer of their admission from B.A to B.ed course, no student was warned that if they swich over to another course, they will have to vacate their present hostels and the another hall which they are being allotted has no accommodation available atleast for another six months.
The newly appointed VC must be watchful and see how her team is trying to tarnish her image.
To throw out the Muslim girls in an unsafe situation can be welcomed by the RSS Muslim Vichar Manch and not by the community elders..
It seems that element of empathy is completely missing in the vision and approach of top #AMU administrative bosses. In the academic session 2024- 25 many students applied for B.A., https://t.co/iVpDznKZG3 and https://t.co/WoiZSYdUlI ( hons) courses. Many of them also applied for newly introduced 4 year B.A B.ed and https://t.co/iVpDznKZG3 Bed combined courses. Selection list for admission to B.A, https://t.co/YaCdopWPAI etc was declared first. Those who took admission got different hostels as per their merit. The list for B.A. Bed and Bsc .B.ed came more than a month late. Those who were selected for this B.A/B.Sc B.Ed transferred their admission from BA/ Bsc ( hons) without any hassle. After they got admission in the new B.ed courses, their admission in B.A and https://t.co/0gOZQvYrxc became automatically cancelled. Suddenly the concerned wardens and provost called these girls and told them to vacate the hostel immediately as they have been allotted another hall of residence and there is no vacancy at all in that hall. The provost and wardens of Indra Gandhi Hall were so rude, so unconcerned , so uncompassionate so that they threw these girls on the road and that a couple of days before the grand Sir Syed Day Celebrations
Is it AMU of Sir Syed?
Is it the same University where the VC is not only a lady but an aluminium of the same Alma Mater.
Does AMU administration think that this will send a good message about AMU in the Muslim Community.? It seems AMU community has become dead and dumb and have lost all the sense of propriety .
It this ugly incident is not in the knowledge of the VC she should immediately ask for the resignation of D.S.W and the concerned provost.
