Thankfully, there has been some genuine learning from my experience 😊 My GP was incredibly grateful for the copy of The Maudsley Deprescribing Guidelines I gave her. After seeing my full case, she has significantly changed her prescribing and deprescribing practices. She now recognises that she’s seen many patients like me in the past but had been interpreting their symptoms as relapse or referring them on to secondary care. My family also submitted a formal complaint to secondary care, not to seek any compensation but simply in the hope of educating them. I’ve been invited, when I’m well enough, to come in and talk about my experience. Hopefully some good can come from that. The neurologist was one of the most concerning. They openly agreed it was antidepressant withdrawal and adverse drug reactions, but admitted they see many such cases in neurology and choose not to speak out because they “can’t rock the boat” 😔 I understand it to an extent, but also quite cowardly.

Over 40 years we've all had to painfully learn by experience what the regulators & drug companies knew from the outset: that antideressants are no more effecive than placebo for most, are dependency forming, cause disabling withdrawal for huge numbers & don't correct imbalances.
