Construction of the transparency portal is underway with a tentative initial launch date of mid-November. A fully functioning portal will be live by about the first of the year. It will feature data about agency demographics, crime statistics, calls for service, response outcomes, uses of force, and officer commendations and complaints.

Completing a new recruiting plan is a major milestone in our commitment to #APDProgress under the #APDConsentDecree.

The city of Aurora approved funding for an online data Transparency Portal as part of our commitment to #APDProgress. The portal will feature information about agency demographics, crime statistics, calls for service, response outcomes, uses of force, and officer commendations and complaints.
The portal will roll out in phases as different data elements are completed. A fully functioning website consisting of all six data points mentioned above will be live by about the first of the year.

APD has revised its Use of Force policies and those changes have been approved by the #APDConsentDecree monitors. All members of the department have received monitor-approved online training on the policy changes. Scenario-based training will take place in September.

APD is completing its self-assessment for the 5th reporting period of the #APDConsentDecree. Self-assessments play a key role in helping the monitors measure #APDProgress on a variety of mandates. Our self-assessment will be sent to the monitors the second week of August.

We mentioned in June we were hiring a manager to help keep us on task with the #APDConsentDecree.
The manager joined the team at the end of June and is assisting the agency meet its requirements as we move toward the monitoring phase of the consent decree.

The Consent Decree requires APD & Aurora Fire Rescue to participate in joint training to foster better coordination at shared scenes. To date, the agencies have developed 6 courses & completed 3, w/more training slated for 2023 & the future.
