In its 40th anniversary year, learn how #ARM nearly never was! Did a misstep by a major manufacturer create the need for Acorn to develop the chip that eventually took the world by storm? In @archiveriscos soon! #ARM40

At 3pm on 26th April 1985, the first ARM chip powered up, displaying: “Hello World, I am ARM.” From a 25,000-transistor chip running on a #BBCMicro, through #RISC_OS systems, to powering billions of devices today, ARM is a testament to efficient design and innovation. #ARM40

#RISC_OS, the original #ARM OS, still lives on today. From it's inception as the very colourful #Arthur in 1987 to it's future on 64bit chips, RISC OS has always worked on efficient #ARM chips, now including those in the #raspberrypi https://t.co/eV0jjluz8u #ARM40 #RISCOS64

40 years of innovation! The ARM chip, born in 1985, changed computing forever - powering everything from early Acorn systems to today's modern #RISC_OS kit. Four decades of efficiency and a future still being written! Let's go 64bit! https://t.co/PXJ3s4UQsQ #ARM40 #RISCOS64
