@1Hildegarde 8/De Valera’s Constitution - Article 40.6.1 - guarantees the right to form associations and unions. These circulars don’t ban union membership. They make it cost you your career. The founders of this State and this union would be ashamed. #ASTIExcluded #IrishConstitution

@1Hildegarde 7/ASTI was founded by Thomas MacDonagh - signatory of the 1916 Proclamation . Éamon de Valera, who later authored Bunreacht na hÉireann, was another founder. This union is part of Irish national history. #ASTIExcluded

@1Hildegarde 6/Let me be clear: ASTI members did not accept the SCRISM Agreement. But we ARE in our classrooms every day delivering the new Senior Cycle. We are teaching it, supporting our students through it, doing the work. We are excluded not from the work. From the reward. #ASTIExcluded

@1Hildegarde 3//This is not my interpretation. The circulars state it in black and white: “ASTI members, by virtue of their rejection of the Agreement, are not entitled to this benefit and therefore are not eligible to apply for or to be appointed to these posts.” #ASTIExcluded

The Irish State this week formally banned a group of teachers from applying for promotion in their own schools. Not because of their performance. Not because of their qualifications. Because of which union they belong to. A thread. 🧵 #ASTIExcluded #WorkersRights #edchatie
