#ASMSA has hosted 25 AP Biology teachers on campus this month as part of the grant-funded #AdvancedBioPlus teacher training program. They learned how to implement 5 labs, plus statistical analysis, including high tech options and low-cost alternatives.
Who’s the culprit?! Teachers in the #AdvancedBioPlus teacher PD program at #ASMSA used restriction enzyme digest and gel electrophoresis to conduct a forensic DNA fingerprinting crime scene analysis lab - and learn how to teach these techniques to their AP Biology students!
It’s not enough to collect the data! Students must also learn data skills like t tests and errors bars. Teachers in the #AdvancedBioPlus program at #ASMSA spent 4 hours today learning 5 labs and are now learning how to teach students to analyze their data and draw conclusions!
Training at #ASMSA with the #AdvancedBioPlus outreach program: Teachers are learning how to teach labs on enzymes, diffusion, metabolism, DNA fingerprinting, and transformation. Here, teachers are learning a high tech method and a low cost alternative for measuring diffusion.
At #ASMSA, AP Bio teachers from all over #Arkansas have come for PD with our #AdvancedBioPlus outreach program. Teachers are learning to use Vernier Go Direct oxygen and carbon dioxide probes to measure rates of photosynthesis and cell respiration in spinach.
