Bugün Omuz ve Göğüste bulunan Askeri Rütbeler geçmişteki atalarımızda Bel kemerinde idi Altın pars kurt geyik boğa at vs resimli kabartmaların yanı sıra kutsal ağaç'lar gibi kabartmalarda bu sınıfı belirtiyordu. Avar'lar M.S 558'de Kafkaslardaki Sabar'lara ağır bi darbe vurdu.

Fascinatingly, they never really developed their own distinctive coin types like the #Alkhans or the #NezakShahs. Initially, all they did was to take the coins paid to them as war reparations by the Sasanians & countermark them with their own name: Hephthal (εβοδαλο). 2/6 kr

Probably the #Alkhans, returning from India, merged into the #NezakaShah kingdom, or joined the ruling family. This created a unity between #Kabulistan & #Zabulistan which became an important geopolitical unit in s. #Afghanistan & is reflected in the #TurkShahi dynasty. 4/4 kr

Sometimes around the middle of the sixth century, there was a merger between the #Alkhans in #Kabul & the #NezakShahs in Ghazni, creating a set of cross-over coins that still carry the name of the #NezakShah, with the Alkhan sign, and becomes the basis of many later coins. 3/4 kr

We don’t know the name of any individual #NezakShah. Their very distinctive coinage is made more distinctive by the use of #Pahlavi instead of #Bactrian script. The portraits show a clean-shaven king w/ a mustache, like the #Alkhans, & a buffalo skull above the crown! 2/4 kr

Most of the #Alkhans, however, proceeded toward Kashmir & northern India, which they eventually lost. Other than coins, their memory is survived in the Indian works such as Rajatrangani. Among these, #Mihirakula & his father #Toramana are the most infamous. 5/5 #Afghanistan kr

In fact, #Alkhans were the first of the states to emerge, or to issue coins really, already under the #Kidarite rule perhaps. Their early coins are copies of #Sasanian issues, with a countermark identifying it as an Alkhan issue (Bact. αλχανο). 2/5

Let’s start with the Alkhans, the first of the Kidarite successor states of whom we have evidence. Just note: older scholarship considered #Alkhans to be part of the #Hephthalites. This is now disputed & dismissed. Alkhans were a separate political entity. 1/5 #Afghanistan kr
