Anglish is a way of using English that tries to remove words that come from Latin, French, or Greek. Instead, it uses words from old Germanic roots—mainly Old English. The idea is to imagine what English might sound like today if events like the Norman Conquest in 1066 (when French words started flooding in) had never happened.
How it Works:
It replaces foreign words with older English ones.
Sometimes, it brings back old words from Old English.
Other times, it makes new words by putting together simple English words.
Examples:
Instead of television, say farseer (far + seer).
Instead of hospital, say healhouse.
Instead of justice, say rightwiseness.
Instead of in addition, use also.
Why People Do It:
Some people do this as a fun language project. Others do it to explore English’s roots and imagine what it could’ve been without so many foreign influences. It’s like a thought experiment about history, language, and identity.
Challenges:
Some modern words don’t have easy Germanic replacements.
New Anglish words can sound strange or forced.
English has always changed, so trying to "purify" it is hard.
Still, Anglish is an interesting mix of creativity, history, and language play.

Reaver means robber. Robber is loaned through old French, then Latin. Then Latin borrowed it from Frankish which is Theedish as well. But well, take a pick between these two.

I am taken aback that we also have the word stell as well, with the same meaning as stellen both in Netherlands and Deutsch. Awesome.
