Our devices are casting all of these records that we do not see being created that in aggregate seem very innocent. You were at Starbucks at this time. You went to the hospital afterwards. You spent a long time at the hospital. After you left the hospital, you made a phone call. You made a phone call to your mother. You talked to her until the middle of the night. The hospital was an oncology clinic. Even if you can't see the content of these communications, the activity records, what the government calls metadata, which they argue they do not need a warrant to collect, tells the whole story. And these activity records are being created and shared and collected and intercepted constantly by companies and governments. And ultimately, it means as they sell these, as they trade these, as they make their businesses on the backs of these records, what they are selling is not information. What they are selling is us. They're selling our future. They're selling our past. They are selling our history, our identity. The fifth edition of “From Australia to Cuba with Love 2026” is moving forward with great dynamism across Australia, reaffirming itself as one of the most sustained and visible expressions of solidarity with Cuba in the region. Since June, dozens of participants have organised group walks, bike rides 🚴‍♀️, cultural events 🎶, community activities in urban gardens 🌿, and public presentations in cities such as Sydney, Adelaide, Canberra, Yass, Melbourne and Brisbane. These efforts support a social project for a children’s home in Guantánamo and strengthen the bonds of friendship between our nations. Alongside these activities, organisers have promoted spaces for reflection on the impact of the economic, commercial and financial blockade, the energy siege, and threats of aggression against Cuba. Audiovisual materials, testimonies from Cuban professionals and recent analyses have helped deepen understanding of Cuba’s current challenges. Awareness‑raising initiatives have also taken place, including visits to parliamentary offices and public events advocating for respect for international law and Cuba’s sovereignty. 🤝🇨🇺 On its fifth anniversary, the campaign continues to build bridges of solidarity, justice and cooperation.
