کالج اوبرلین باید تحقیقات درباره محلاتی را از سر بگیرد. عبادی، نفیسی و برومند تایید کرده‌اند که تا کنون پاسخی از دانشکده دریافت نکرده‌اند. جدا از وجهه عمومی بالای این مدافعان حقوق بشر، نامه آنها در مقطع حساسی از تاریخ ایران مطرح شده است. زنان ایرانی و حامیان مرد آنها برای از بین بردن قوانین سرکوبگرانه جنسیتی تحمیل شده توسط رژیم آخوندی تظاهرات سراسری را به راه انداخته‌اند. اما واکنش رژیم ایران به این تظاهرات وحشیانه بوده است: به گزارش خبرگزاری های فعال حقوق بشر، تا تاریخ ۹ بهمن ۱۴۰۱، ۵۲۷ معترض –که ۷۱ نفر آنها کودک بوده‌اند– به قتل رسیده و نزدیک به ۲۰۰۰۰ نفر دستگیر شده‌اند. مدیران مؤسسات بزرگ دانشگاهی، از جمله دانشگاه کیس وسترن رزرو، با صدور بیانیه‌هایی علناً حمایت خود را از جامعه ایرانی آشکار کرده‌اند، در حالی که آمبار و کالج اوبرلین سکوت اختیار کرده‌اند. اجازه دهید این ریاکاری ظالمانه را آشکار کنیم: مؤسسه‌ای که به طلایه‌داری تاریخی خود در زمینه آموزش و حقوق زنان افتخار می‌کند، حاضر نیست یک حکومت دیکتاتوری مذهبی را محکوم کند که زنان را به واسطه اینکه می‌خواهند حجاب نداشته باشند، شلوار جین بپوشند، و یا در ملاء عام با دوستان خود برقصند به قتل می‌رساند. https://t.co/74WaEwfgSK
