Staddle stones were used to keep valuable crops and grain stores off wet ground. This one in Rodney Stoke, #Somerset was photographed in 1907 and has a hayrick set on top of the stones. Designs of staddle stones vary in size and shape around the country.

Crossness pumping station, Bexley. Pevsner called this amazing site a 'Victorian cathedral of ironwork'. Opened in 1865 it was part of Bazalgette's redevelopment of the sewerage system in London following the Great Stink of 1858.

St Nectan's Church, Stoke, Hartland, #Devon is also known as the 'Cathedral of North Devon'. The church is dedicated to the 5th century Nectan. Although Nectan was the son of a king he chose to live the simple life of a hermit in this area.
