🟥 ⛏️ Pink Amethyst Geode from Argentina is a variety of quartz, composed primarily of silicon dioxide with a hexagonal crystal structure, exhibiting a soft pink to rose hue due to inclusions of hematite, a iron oxide mineral. 🔁 ❤️ #PinkAmethyst #ArgentineGeode 🎞 https://t.co/vZhVsWFoXv ▶️ This coloration distinguishes it from traditional purple amethyst, which gains its tint from iron combined with natural irradiation, while the pink variant incorporates more hematite during growth, resulting in a subtler, warmer tone. ▶️ Geologically, these geodes are found in volcanic regions of Patagonia, particularly in basaltic formations where ancient lava flows created cavities filled with mineral-rich solutions. ▪️ The crystals typically form in clustered, druzy arrangements within these hollow spheres, often accompanied by minor calcite or agate banding, and measure on the Mohs scale at 7 for hardness, making them durable yet translucent with a vitreous luster. ▪️ These geodes form through a process beginning with volcanic eruptions that produce gas bubbles trapped in cooling lava, creating spherical voids. ▪️ Over geological time spans of millions of years, silica-saturated hydrothermal fluids seep into these cavities, depositing layers of chalcedony or agate on the walls first, followed by the inward growth of quartz crystals as the solutions cool and precipitate minerals. ↘️ In the Argentine deposits, the presence of iron-rich groundwater leads to the integration of hematite, imparting the distinctive pink color under specific temperature and pressure conditions that prevent the typical purple amethyst formation.
