I identify as both “#autistic/#autie” AND “#Aspergian/#aspie…” If a word's origin is gonna cause offense, le fact le word “autism” comes from the Latin “autos” meaning “self” probably contributes to the #FalseBelief that it's a synonym for narcissism/sociopathy/psychopathy. 🙄😒
So, what are the unwritten Autistic social rules for someone that identifies as Asperger's but you identify as Autistic with level 1.5 support needs? Do you respect their terms despite the history and it's removal from the DSM? Do you let them call you an Aspie?
