I analysed 25 years of Nifty 50 data (2001–2026) to study what happened after periods of sub-optimal or negative 2-year returns.
The findings challenge a common investing assumption:
• Weak past returns often improved future return potential
• Valuations mattered far more than recent performance
• Some of the strongest forward returns came after periods of disappointment

Do not rely on your favorite asset class viz. #Equity to always deliver returns and generate wealth. One needs to be pragmatic, more forward-looking, and understand macro and micro situations to understand which #AssetClass can or can not deliver returns under certain situations.
Current geo-political situation, ongoing wars in different parts of the globe, #SupplyChain blockages, rising #inflationary pressures, higher global #debt, #currency debasement due to printing currencies, higher #rates for longer and the impact & pressures on future #earnings growth will not allow your go-to asset class viz. #Equity to deliver returns in the foreseeable future.
Late Shri @sidd1307 had this foresight and converted his #SmallCap PMS into 90% #Gold portfolio. That has kept his PMS investors in good stead during this period and in the foreseeable future as well.
A well diversified and some overweight position in #PreciousMetals will be able to ride this volatile period more smoothly and come out on top. Time for equity will arrive when one can reduce precious metals allocations and increase equity, but that time is not now.
The US is in a debt trap with $39 trln national debt and growing by $1 trln every 100 days. The only way to get out of this situation is devaluing their currency. That will be a great catalyst for Precious Metals' next leg up rally.
