The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has instructed its federating units to mobilise volunteers for a planned democratic agitation starting April 29, should the state government fail to revoke the Cabinet order for the regularisation of 147 contractual assistant professors and librarians.
This follows a seven-day ultimatum served to the government, which is set to expire on April 28. All federating units are, therefore, expected to ensure maximum participation of volunteers with a traditional touch in attire in solidarity with the collective stand of the Naga student community,” it stated in a notification issued on Saturday. They have been instructed to assemble at 9 am on April 29 at Naga Solidarity Park, Kohima.

Nagaland Cabinet has shortened the timeline for resolving the absorption issue of 147 assistant professors and librarians, reducing the initial eight-week period granted to a High Power Committee (HPC) to four weeks. The decision was taken during Monday afternoon’s Cabinet meeting. Under this new configuration, the HPC now has just three weeks remaining, as one week has already passed since the committee's formation on April 21.
The announcement was made at a late-night press conference held at the Chief Secretary Conference Hall, led by Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang, along with Minister for Power and Parliamentary Affairs KG Kenye and Chief Secretary Dr. J Alam.

NSUI Nagaland strongly condemns the illegal regularization of 147 Assistant Professors/Librarians by the Higher Education Dept. We demand immediate nullification, accountability, and justice.

The Minister for Higher Education in Nagaland owes full moral responsibility for the current fiasco involving regularization of 147 Asst Professors. Strangely, his theatrics on social media seem to have insulated his name despite public outrage.
