The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has instructed its federating units to mobilise volunteers for a planned democratic agitation starting April 29, should the state government fail to revoke the Cabinet order for the regularisation of 147 contractual assistant professors and librarians. This follows a seven-day ultimatum served to the government, which is set to expire on April 28. Nagaland Cabinet has shortened the timeline for resolving the absorption issue of 147 assistant professors and librarians, reducing the initial eight-week period granted to a High Power Committee (HPC) to four weeks. The decision was taken during Monday afternoon’s Cabinet meeting. Under this new configuration, the HPC now has just three weeks remaining, as one week has already passed since the committee's formation on April 21.
