The Older Americans Act helps millions of Americans continue to put food on the table through programs like Meals on Wheels. While I was #AtHomeInHouston last week, I joined IM Houston's Meals on Wheels team to help deliver meals and connect with our neighbors across #TX07. As always, it was an important and inspiring morning!

While I was #AtHomeinHouston, I was glad to join @RDesRoches and the @RiceUniversity community for the announcement of the Gateway Project, which will connect the university with Rice Village with a pedestrian walkway—an important link between university and community in #TX07.

Great to join local business leaders from the Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) for a back-of-house tour at a #TX07 hotel while I was #AtHomeInHouston. Many in the AAHOA today are second- and third- generation Americans whose immigrant families built what now makes up 60% of the U.S. hospitality industry—and I'm proud that so many of them call Houston home.

While I was #AtHomeinHouston, I was glad to meet with reps from the National Air Traffic Controllers Association to talk about all that's going on with the shutdown and what it means for them. I first met with NATCA members during the 2019 shutdown (in my first month in office). I was clear then and it's clear now -- government shouldn't work this way, and it doesn't. It is time for the House to go back into session to end the shutdown and meet the needs of the American people.
