Excited to share that I will be speaking at #OSSummit Japan + #AutoLinux + #EmbeddedLinux Conference Asia on December 7-9 in Tokyo with Sonal!
Our talk is on how just asking if the container image is signed or not is the wrong question, because in reality anyone can sign the container image. What actually needs to be verified is that the image was built by our pipeline, from our repo, on our protected branch.
We'll cover solving this problem using keyless Sigstore signing in GitHub Actions recorded in Rekor and using Kyverno to setup a verifyImages policy that requires the certificate identity to prove that it's ours before it runs on Kubernetes. We plan on showing a full live demo of the entire pipeline running for a non verified image and a correctly signed image side by side.
