How do you imagine the day after the fall of a detested #autocrat? Retribution is one option, ultimately having the members of the old regime in the dock. Another one, apparently pursued by Péter #Magyar in #Hungary, following his famous victory over #Orbán, is mockery. He walks the Hungarian people behind the scenes of corruption, and lampoons the greed and vulgar hedonism he encounters. He does so in straight face, with occasional minor gestures of contempt. Need one say more. And indeed, was it really necessary to decapitate France’s royals? Would it not have sufficed to walk the revolutionary masses through the hallways of their rottenness and buffoonish self aggrandizement? Imagine the same done at the White House, the day after #Trump; in Ankara, the day after #Erdoğan; in Jerusalem, the day after #Netanyahu. May the thought keep you soundly asleep at night. (These are the ones who may be done away with electorally. A much longer list would need to be compiled for the ones whom only a violent coup might remove)
