@richardzussman BC got a failing grade for vax immunization this year. Nothing to celebrate.
Maybe just a little less cheering Rick, and a little more fact checking. #BCFail

To think, there was no warning, no information from the BC Govt @bcndp, no word from #BCPH, not a single mention from PHO #DrBonnieHenry or @CDCofBC that tides had turned and so many were getting infected. So much damage done while those in charge looked on. #BCFail #FireBonnie
FAILED COVID CONTROL:
But then things take a turn worse.
In Nov/Dec 2021, like so many of our leaders worldwide, BC looked at the incoming data on the new variant of concern, omicron, and threw up their hands in defeat.
The data show clearly how much damage this did.
Some point to the heat dome. Sure, that contributed.
But take out the 595 deaths BC has attributed to the heat dome, and BC is still well clear of AB and SK.
Also, WA state claims 95 heat-related deaths, and is roughly 50% larger than BC. Also under Dix & Henry.

#bcbs did I hear drB say “we are really busy ramping up the booster program starting Jan 5”? No new appointments because they are all booked up? only 150 administering with 100 support staff? - we are 2 years in - pivot, be proactive, let’s plan - #bcfail #covid19bc
Want to wear an N95 as a visitor in a hospital? Sorry, it’ll have to be a floppy surgical mask
Oh you’re donating a hepa filter for the classroom? Sorry, not allowed to use a device that cleans the air & saves lives
@crystalmundypsy "No asymptomatic testing" << consistent, but still shocking to see in writing.

Multiply this visual by at least two, possibly as many as four times... That's not success by any measure, no matter what gov't, PHO, or media talking points are.

@FurnessColin (epidemiologist, U of Toronto): "The overall usage rate has been about three per cent. In BC, it's actually been more like about one and a half per cent, so almost complete non-use...a tragic missed opportunity to keep people safe." #BCFail https://t.co/7E2xdW4WsY
@DonK71051185 Exactly. It’s way too soon. But even worse for the kids.
@DrBonnieHenry is even making plans for “overnight children’s camps” for the summer. Unvaxxed. Has she not heard of the Georgia summer camp study?

How about adults *continue* to wear masks out of respect for children, who cannot get 💉yet but could be one of the 10% #LongCovidKids if they catch it?
We are supposed to be the role models. How selfish is it that the adults ditch 😷 b/c we are 💉? Too bad, kids?🙄😢

@DavidIvaz @CarmenS69591646 ⬆️ The problem with letting these anti-restriction protests go unchallenged, is that their message is then given legitimacy. Which shouldn’t be allowed.
There are immunocompromised ppl trapped at home, those w/ #LongCovid unable to work, hundreds in 🏥, HCW w/ PTSD. 😢

Sask protesters (see tweet ⬆️) are probably heading to this BC rally ⬇️ right now.
Fantastic public messaging, @CDCofBC @bcndp! When you say BC is close to the finish line, variants are ho-hum & no one knows about #LongCovid, ppl don’t get it.🙄

How’s that travel restriction coming along, @mikefarnworthbc @bcndp @BCNDPCaucus @jjhorgan?
“Some Saskatchewan protesters apparently left this week in a convoy bound for Vancouver, posting updates on their social media accounts.”
Better read ⬇️. #BCfail

@9x19 @KatrinaCBurnaby @routledge_janet @rajchouhan @AnneKangMLA @Fraserhealth So ridiculous that essential workers have to compete for vaccines. At the end of April! 6 weeks after teachers were told they’d be prioritized! This is in a hotspot too...
Meanwhile #bced staff in the Interior have no chance either...

@yarnfiend It's especially terrible when they talk about all adults who want a shot having one by July 1st, so we can have a 'normal' summer.
That's what people hear: one shot = normal summer. BAD MESSAGING.
One shot not enough, kids not vaxxed.

If @bcndp @jjhorgan chose #CanadianShield in Jan/Feb as many (incl @CPHO_Canada) were telling them, then:
-🏥crisis avoided
-No🦠fear or 💉scramble
-Cancer surgeries ✔️
-Pregnant women safe
-Immunocompromised could live freely
-Entertainment✔️

My @steeletalk @CKNW interview:
Why is Playland opening on May 1, with variants spreading, LM hospitals full, and a “don’t leave your community” order? Especially with #bced schools ⬆️ exposure letters? BC doesn’t need a repeat of Whistler #P1disasterBC.
