In BGP, spoofing AS numbers or IPs can be done easily, esp if the upstream provider isn't vigilant on security. AS numbers and IPs are independent attributes. RPKI helps. It validates that an AS and prefixs belong together before accepting the route. This helps admin overhead.

Canada has 1606 registered ASNs as of today with a total of 7290 IPv4 prefixes and 524 IPv6 prefixes. Out of 1606 ASNs, 116 have ROAs - 7% Out of 7290 IPv4 prefixes, 392 have ROAs - 5% Out of 524 IPv6 prefixes, 148 have ROAs - 28% #rpki #bgpsecurity

It appears that @ZayoGroup is planning to implement RPKI ROV. The catch is the target's Q4 2021. If you're a customer of AS6461 and care about #RPKI #BGPSecurity, maybe drop an email to your account manager so they can relay your thoughts.
