Y2 took part in the #GreatScienceShare day, today. Using our super science skills to investigate materials used to make clothes. They used research, tally charts and grouping to identify types of fabric. They identified a new fabric made from bamboo called, viscose. #BMScience

Nursery became scientists today for #GreatScienceShare day. Predicting which spinner would stay in the air longest, comparing by size and taking them outside to compare against their friends. They also explored forces, finding magnetic objects around the environment🧲 #BMScience
Nursery continued their #ScienceWeek learning with an experiment linked to our topic ‘Once upon a time’. We wanted to see what changes would happen to the gingerbread man in different liquids 💧🎨🥛We watched him disintegrate😯- a new word we now know #BMScience @SwantonSarah

Nursery have been investigating sinking & floating as part of #ScienceWeek. This morning we the majority of the class predicted the foam pieces would float, but we’re surprised too see and feel them dissolve😮😃 #BMScience #UTW
In science, Year 2 used their super science skill ‘researching’ to answer questions about the invertebrate, worms. They then created their own wormery, and over the coming weeks they’ll be working on the skill ‘observing changes over time’ @SwantonSarah @woolley_mrs #BMscience

Nursery have taken part in hands-on exploration of forces and mixing ingredients👩🔬👨🔬🧪🧲 👻 We had great conversations throughout, using all our senses and learning new vocabulary #BMScience @missroneill_ @SwantonSarah

Year 4 thoroughly enjoyed their science lesson today exploring the digestive system with some food, orange juice, a plastic bag and some tights.. Creating and seeing the end result was hilarious! @SwantonSarah @woolley_mrs #bmscience
A big thankyou to Farmer David and the animals of Bowland Farm. What a fantastic time our Nursery children had spending time petting the animals after learning about them through our farm topic #EYFSenrichment @SwantonSarah @woolley_mrs #BMscience

After a very wet walk the children were challenged to a science activity to create a protective vessel for their high ropes egg drop later in the week !!! Whose egg will survive ? #scienceweek @BartonMossCPS #bmscience @woolley_mrs @MrCornishTweets

Today, in science, Year 5 investigated ‘Does the shape of an object affect the amount of water resistance applied?’ Using 3 different shaped objects, they looked for high & low water resistance for each object and recorded their results. #BMscience @woolley_mrs @SwantonSarah

Well done Year 5, such a great day. In science we investigated, ‘Does the size of a parachute affect the amount of air resistance produced?’ The class made 3 parachutes and conducting an investigation to answer the question. @woolley_mrs @SwantonSarah @MrCornishTweets #BMScience

In science, Year 5 were recapping separating mixtures. They were given a variety of solids and liquids that had been mixed and had to discuss the most effective method, test it and write if it worked or not. @mrsunsworth35 @woolley_mrs @SwantonSarah @MrCornishTweets #bmscience

Y4/5 Science:Mechanics after school club introduced them to screws, wheels & axles, cogs and pulleys. Using a shoe lace, a cotton reel and a pencil they showed it was possible to lift a chair. Using screws we learnt about rotational and linear motion. #bmscience @mrsunsworth35

Yesterday, we kicked off our science week, all about growth, by exploring the different methods of continuing life. We learned some animals can reproduce by splitting their cells to create identical copies of themselves. @mrsunsworth35 @SwantonSarah @MrCornishTweets #BMScience

In science, Year 5 were investigating if they could prove the scientific theory of the formation of the solar system. Using pepper, water & rotation they replicated the idea that dust & gravity created spherical bodies orbiting the sun. @mrsunsworth35 @MrCornishTweets #BMScience
Year 5 explored the planets in our solar system. They rehearsed the acronym MVEMJSUN (My Very Excellent Mother Just Served Us Noodles) to order the planets before completing their fact files about each planet. Well done. @mrsunsworth35 @SwantonSarah @MrCornishTweets #BMScience
