Year 6 have been programming Lego. This week, we have been learning how motion sensors work. The children programmed the aeroplane propellers to spin only when the aeroplane was moving. They enjoyed debugging to fix the algorithm. #BVYear6 @legowedoule @LEGO_Group

In Art, Year 6 have been studying photomontages. A photomontage involves cutting up photographs and combining them to form a new image. Take a look at Year 6’s attempts exploring this art form. 🖌️ #BVYear6 @kapowprimary

Our Science club worked really hard looking at their anatomy today. They worked together to piece together our skeletons and figure out the layout of our major organs. We did all this for this year’s British Science Week theme, Connections! #BritishScienceWeek #BVYear5 #BVYear6

In Year 6, we have been learning about living things. Today we carried out an experiment to see if microorganisms are living things. We found out that the yeast reacted to convert the sugar into carbon dioxide gas. #BVYear6

Year 6 have been using Scratch to enhance their computing skills. They constructed and programmed a Lego model so it could move and play sounds on command. They learnt about algorithms and debugging to ensure the model moved in the way they wanted it to. #BVYear6

Year 6 have been investigating the impact of the Industrial Revolution on our local area. They learnt about mills, reservoirs, population, roads etc. They had a look at High Crompton maps from 1844, 1893 and 1909. They tried to locate our school and their homes. #BVYear6

School councillor elections! This is something the class were really looking forward to. The candidates put themselves forward. We listened to their speeches and the children held a secret ballot. 🗳 We all eagerly anticipate the results. #BVYear6

What a great week we have had in Year 6. We have completed our enterprise week and achieved our aim of making a profit, thanks to all the orders received. The children have collaborated well and really got stuck into the whole process. #BVYear6 #CHSupdates

Today we have started our Primary Engineer Rail Project in DT to create a tourist train. Some groups have begun to accurately measure and safely cut the wood for the frame whilst others have started to focus on the wiring needed and created designs for the body. #BVYEAR6
