It was an honour to show HRH Duke of Gloucester the original maps of @BristolWater supply to the city. I'd not noticed before that the map of Clifton included a reference to a "proposed suspension bridge"! I guess that would make a good landmark #waterhistory #BW175

We were delighted to host the Duke of Gloucester at our Bristol offices yesterday to celebrate our 175th anniversary and plant the first of 1200 trees we have pledged for the #QueensGreenCanopy
Our first tree is now officially on the @QGCanopy map!

Friday 15th October is the 175th Anniversary of the first meeting of @BristolWater, in the White Lion pub. At that time beer was safer to drink than water. We will be raising a glass (of water and beer) to celebrate Dr William Budd whose ideas solved this #waterhistory #BW175

Just a couple more before we sign off #BW175 today... Blagdon pumping station, built in 1902, is still in use today to provide water! Doesn't it look proper fancy for some pumps.

Are you a fan of #waterhistory? If you are, then there's only 3 days to go to a bumper selection to celebrate @BristolWater 's #BW175 birthday. Check back on Friday 16th to find out more.

There was a few Glastonbury clips shown on TV at the weekend. Back in 1971, @BristolWater supplied emergency tankers to a gathering of β15,000 to 20,000 hippies on a farm at Pilton, near Glastonburyβ. This cartoon at the time wondered what was made of this! #BW175 #waterhistory

Another one of @BristolWater founders was Francis Fry, who together with his brothers created the first mass produced chocolate bar and Easter Eggs. #bw175 #waterhistory #hydrosocialcontract. And chocolate may be second to clean water for public health and wellbeing!
