Thanks so much to @zsk, @MartynLandi, @weekstweets, and @jennysneyd for joining @BabelPR's panel discussion! Brilliant insights on how tech companies can optimise virtual events #BabelTalksVirtualEvents
Another great @BabelPR event wrapped up. Thanks to panellists @zsk, @MartynLandi, @weekstweets, and of course @jennysneyd, and to our expert moderator @Katie_Finnigan. #BabelTalksVirtualEvents #virtualevents
Some great questions from attendees (and answers from panellists) at our #BabelTalksVirtualEvents session – always good to see interaction as it shows people are engaged with the conversation, not just listening in the background. We’re clearly following our own advice!
Speaking at the @BabelPR webinar, @zsk says there should be no "elephants in the room" at a #virtualevent - she gives the example of an event about #facialrecognition - everyone wants to discuss it so don't restrict what journalists can talk about #BabelTalksVirtualEvents
"Have back ups!" @weekstweets offering some sage advice when you are relying on the internet with virtual events. Don't let a storm in the host's neighbourhood knock you offline #BabelTalksVirtualEvents @BabelPR
We ask our Managing Director @jennysneyd how can companies can amplify their #events:
"Take a few steps back and think about who is going to be interested in the content. Map out this audience, and think about how best to engage with them."
#BabelTalksVirtualEvents

Think about what you want ME to get out of this, says @zsk - look at what you're offering & hoping to achieve. We're a very different audience to peers or investors, but too many events don't differentiate & therefore don't provide value to news media. #BabelTalksVirtualEvents
We ask, how long do companies need to prepare for #events?
@weekstweets says, from idea generation through to the event itself, it can take anything up to a year to prepare.
#BabelTalksVirtualEvents

We ask, what will make you write about an #event?
@MartynLandi: "@zsk hit the nail on the head when she said it has to have that #news-worthiness."
#BabelTalksVirtualEvents #mediainsights #webinar

There's got to be a hook, says @MartynLandi, "I'm not going to attend a high-level briefing on where a company's headed. When I get back to the newsroom after being away from my desk, I need to be able to demonstrate the value with a lede/newsline" #BabelTalksVirtualEvents
.@MartynLandi on whether demos and Q&A’s work for #virtualevents:
"These do work and can work, but the key is organisation."
#BabelTalksVirtualEvents

Tips for attracting the #media from our #BabelTalksVirtualEvents panellist @MartynLandi:
"Can you offer something a bit different?"
"Can you get someone to speak who is a bit different? That can draw people in."

Great point from @zsk on #VirtualEvents - for broadcasters they can give a good idea of how people perform on camera and potentially factor in to decisions about which commentators to lean on in future for stories #BabelTalksVirtualEvents #virtualevents
More thoughts from the BBC's @zsk on our #BabelTalksVirtualEvents #webinar this afternoon:
"Do you homework about the #journalists"
"Pick your timing"
"If your pitch is topical, tell me!"

We ask the BBC's @zsk, from a #media perspective: what makes you want to attend a #virtualevent?
I get around four or five event invites every day (which incidentally is the same as @MartynLandi), so it needs to be something I can turn into a story.
#BabelTalksVirtualEvents

Don't make them too long @zsk says, "I don't have two hours to take out of my day". People also need to be up front about what journalists are going to get out of events - we need to justify time out of the day to editors #BabelTalksVirtualEvents #virtualevents
.@weekstweets recommends defining your goals in advance of hosting #virtualevents land designing your platform to specifically help you achieve those goals #BabelTalksVirtualEvents
.@weekstweets says "inclusivity is key" when it comes to making a #virtualevent a success! @AllDayDevOps events have welcomed over 40,000 attendees - so they know!
#BabelTalksVirtualEvents
And @weekstweets, what goes into planning a virtual event?
"You have to think about it as hosting a community event: building an experience, rather than building a #webinar. You need to think more about the overall experience.”
#BabelTalksVirtualEvents

We ask @weekstweets, why did you decide to make it virtual?
“There is enough momentum to bring a #conference to the world. Make it available to everyone. Make it free. Remove all the barriers from a physical conference."
