Though our collections pre-date the use of the word, it does not mean memos did not exist. On #NationalMemoDay we share original instructions for setting up a Patent Timepiece. #memo #PrimarySources #clock #museum #MuseumsUnlocked #BanjoClock #ClockResearch #horology

Winding day arrives again, the first wind of a new year! We have discussed the Patent Timepiece for the last several weeks. Here is a comparative of the whole piece and just the movement, with video! #2021 #clock #BanjoClock #winding #STEM #STEAM #ASMR #VisualLearning

It's winding day at Willard House again! Patent Timepieces will last approximately a week once wound all the way up. I think the trapezoidal weight, made to fit just right in the throat of the timepiece is so cool! #STEM #STEAM #BanjoClock #PatentTimepiece #ClockWinding

Last week we saw the Patent Timepiece, many call it a "banjo clock" perhaps because it looks like a banjo. The banjo came to the Americas with enslaved people, but reached popularity in minstrel shows in the 1830's; it likely received its name then. #BanjoClock #Boston
