It's been a long while, rose fans, but on #BareRootRoseWatch day err, 168, I fancied an update. There's some lovely late-season new foliage, one marvellous long stem as a basis for next year, the hips just turning orange, and we've put up some supports for it.
We've come a long way from a bare twig to some real flowers. Stats: climbing rose 'Shropshire Lass', ordered 29 Feb, planted some time around 14 March, photo 1 taken 25 March. Thank you to everyone who followed with interest! #BareRootRoseWatch

#BareRootRoseWatch day 68: these photos look identical to yesterday. But standing barefoot on the hot paving for a few minutes was no end of a tonic. Expect more.

#BareRootRoseWatch day 57: it's been worrying times. One of the two main shoots was sent sideways by the wind & I wasn't sure it was still sufficiently attached to parent plant. But its sideshoots are now growing upwards, so there must be life in it. Hurrah.
