Parathyroid histology (hypercellular parathyroid, in this case): ➡️chief cells - smaller, comprise the majority of the cellularity ➡️oxyphil cells - eosinophilic cytoplasm (lots of mitochondria) ➡️usually ~50% fat, with more adipose as we age #BasicPath #PathTwitter

One of the challenges when you start learning cytopath (or any path) is recognizing normal variants. This brownish coloration in the squamous cells is just glycogen. "Cornflake" artifact can look similar. #Basicpath #cytopath #PathTwitter
