A3 cont./ We still have to respect patient privacy and use secure channels of communication. It is also not appropriate to offer formal medical advice to those outside of our immediate care.

A3. I have a bicameral mind as a patient-physician but I think an important “gap” is the limit placed on healthcare providers regarding how much they are allowed to communicate with AYAs on social media.

A2. I know it sounds like a recipe for an echo chamber but I look to see who my Twitter peers are already following. It’s a wonderful method of curation that relies on the sources I already trust the most.

@EK_Drake Agreed! As ephemeral as they might sometimes seen, these posts can live forever, and it remains to be seen how they will be mined in the future, e.g. potential employers evaluating job candidacy

A1/ cont. I think the biggest potential downside is the loss of privacy. We hold patient confidentiality sacrosanct in medicine and AYAs need to realize exactly what rights they are waiving when they self-disclose

@vickyyyf @magthenomad We have GPOs who are very experienced in cancer survivor ship issues. Women's @WCHospital has the ACTT clinic which is a GPO and nurse led survivorship clinic. #behaviormedchat
@kgunturuMD A3. Agree. We need to develop and test programs that can be delivered to people at home. We recently launched a pilot of a new virtual cancer rehab program @PMCancerRehab . It includes wearable tech, online modules, and remote support with our team. #behaviormedchat
@drnehaggoyal @BehavioralMed Agree this is an issue. The use of remote monitoring systems with automatic triggers - prospective surveillance for cancer rehab- has been suggested. #behaviormedchat

Not okay: @SfNtweets lawyer’s letter canceling a sexual harassment talk by the founder of #MeTooSTEM for criticizing leaders’ inaction.
Very okay: @McLNeuro’s genius use of the term “harassholes” as she publicly calls them out for silencing her.
New one for the #metoo lexicon!
