@dragonspleen #betabash Reading: character arcs and antagonist motivations. I follow tension like a melody. I love memeing on characters. Writing: CLARITY. My characters float away a lot and I need help hammering them into scene. Does it make sense? Do you know why this happened? Help!

@dragonspleen #betabash I give 6 weeks before I nudge, so would ask for the same (I might finish sooner). This is draft 3 and I have some worldbuilding to correct in draft 4 before it goes to querying. If anyone is willing to submit by mid-March/April, let me know!

@dragonspleen #betabash Im very blunt. I plot-doctor and say “x didn’t work, try y?” but it’s never ever ever prescriptive. YOU are the author YOU make the call, IM working from chapter 3. I will not say I dislike something unless I can articulate why, but will gush if I’m happy.

@dragonspleen I think as a beta reader my strength lies more on the big picture stuff. I.e. plot, characters, worldbuilding, stakes. For this WIP, I need help with my pacing and making sure the characters & storyline make sense. #betabash https://t.co/msv0I7JIay

@dragonspleen Definitely want more Arab-inspired fantasy and less (post-)colonial low points. Give me golden ages! Both leads are Bi and caught “in between” culture spheres. They’re nocturnal elves in a human-dominated desert kingdom, so sensory experiences and superstition “other” them.

@dragonspleen #betabash I’d love more mental health rep. In the WIP I’m outlining, I’m going to do my best to write my MC with anxiety like mine. Yes, she may spiral and shut down with overwhelming anxiety, but she’s gonna push through and dig deep to save her realm.

@dragonspleen as a reader, i want to care about your characters and the world they're in. i will annoy you with 100+ questions about both of them. as an author, i'm not good with action scenes, and my brain "hops" from scene to scene. i also may need help with stretching out scenes #betabash

@dragonspleen #betabash Genre: High Fantasy Romance Wordcount: 115k exactly, would like to skim it down to 110. Draft stage: Draft 3, on its second read, CPs are through most of Act 1. What I read: SFF, more to F. I crave a good romance and love royalty, intrigue, and THE VIBES.
