It's been just over a year since I started documenting my journey of deprescription from aripiprazole on X (formally Twitter). Looking far towards January 2026, which marks the anticipated completion of my careful tapering schedule, I'm filled with a mix of anticipation and contemplation. This journey, aimed at avoiding significant withdrawal effects, is less than halfway through and there's still a significant path ahead. This platform, which I joined in October 2022, was never merely about sharing a story. It was an essential tool in a journey where online support filled a gap that real-life groups couldn't. It became a beacon, guiding me through uncharted waters. But as I project myself into 2026, I wonder about the role of X in my life post-discontinuation. Will this mark a potential farewell to this digital diary, or will I continue documenting the new chapter of a drug-free existence? This isn't just about concluding a chapter, it's about what lies beyond. My deprescription documentary, a means to an invaluable end, might have served its purpose by then. What follows could be a new form of sharing – perhaps an updated memoir, engaging in public talks, or creating video content – stepping out from the veil of anonymity to connect on a more personal level. As I navigate these next couple of years, I plan to share the milestones, the challenges, and the reflections that come with them.
