As people who follow me know, nothing excites me more than AI, and Iโve been all in on it for years, long before ChatGPT came out. What may not be obvious is that I am also absolutely pro-humanity.
AI will soon become superintelligent, but that does not mean we will simply retire into obsolescence, as many seems to think. There are two plausible, complementary paths for coexisting at the same level: 1) we merge with AI, as Kurzweil predicted (a process that has already begun to some extent), and 2) we upgrade our biological intelligence. Most do not realize how much potential exists in biological systems.
Once we reach biosingularity, as I proposed 20 years ago and had predicted to happen around the 2040s, we will be able to reengineer our biology and massively upgrade our cognitive powers with the help of AI. I will write an extensive essay on this separately.
For now, I just want to say that AI is our path to upgrade humanity to Human 2.0, then 3.0, and beyond. In other words, if the AI we create becomes godlike, so will we.
