As promised, #Bodopoly delivers! This anecdote comes from the delightful memoirs of librarian Gregory Drew; hired in 1960 as a result of this memorandum, he stayed until the millennium! 📚 We like to think we're doing slightly better with our labelling nowadays...
A fun Taylorian fact:
A memorandum from 1959 on why the Taylorian library needed more staff included the note - 'No labelling has been done for at least two years'!
And we're out! We're at the Old Bodleian, where it all began.
Since Thomas James (appointed by Bodley in 1599) there have been 25 Bodley's Librarians.
The 24th, Sarah Thomas was the first woman - and American - to serve in the role, from 2007.

Originally built in 17th c. and formerly known as the Apodyterium, Chancellor's Court was the @UniofOxford courtroom - identifiable by its bench and dock - where the University tried members accused of wrongdoing.

When the @Muller_Library moved from Yarnton Manor to the Clarendon Institute in 2014, we found several sealed boxes - hidden in the library's walls since the 1980s...
